"Synthesis of relavant data from systematic excavations for possible formulation of hypotheses regarding sociotechnic and/ or ideological aspects of the sociocultural system participated in by the Middle Iron Age people of Ayao-Iyao, Lemery based on a study of the burial pottery" -- Abstract.
To attempt a definition of primary and secondary functions of the burial pottery and to quantify certain meaningful attributes pertinent to the general problem.
Within the context of the site report, the following procedures were implemented:
1. Analysis of 101 earthenware vessels as to basic observable morphological features.
2. Detemination of the material (petrographic and mineralogical analysis, to determine origin).
3. Analysis of primary and secondary functions of the ceramic assemblage associated with the burials.
4.Quantification of each vessels form and conversion of capacity into subsistence units.
5. Analysis of the relationship between utilitarian attributes to supra utilitarian in each of the 101 earthenware vessels studied.
6.Interpretation and presentation of hypothesis.
Includes sixty (60) sample worksheets illustrating basic procedure implemented in pottery analysis.
