Institute of Graduate Studies and Applied ResearchMaterial type: TextTextPublication details: 1965Description: 36 pages, 2 plates : some illustrations ; 28 cmSubject(s): Mushroom cultureLOC classification: SB 353 | A83 1965Summary: Mycelium production of Volvaria esculenta Bres. in submerged culture was successful with vegetable extracts with or without nutrient solution. However, with the enrichment of nutrient solution, mycelium production is apparently increased. Among the vegetable extracts tested, cabbage was found to be the best with or without enrichment with nutrient solution. Cabbage extract with nutrient solution surpassed the latter in mycelium production, indicating that it possesses stimulatory growth factor. Mycelium production was invariably influenced by various factors such as nitrogen, sugar, reaction of the media, and age of culture, that they tend to increase appreciably the production of mycelium in submerged culture.
